As you all may know, the School Days anime is an adaptation from the adult game of the same name. The game is unique in a sense that the entire game is animated and not the typical slideshow style. The game’s pacing is slower, but it does flesh out the details much better than the anime which is slightly accelerated. The voice talents are the same for both the anime and the game, although you may notice in the entry in wikipedia that this may not be the case. Their names are different but they sound exactly the same, especially Sekai’s voice which is quite unique sounding. I’m guessing they’re the same people, although please inform me if I’m wrong. Preferably with some evidence to back it up so I can post it up here too.

To play the game, you must have Asian Fonts installed on your windows. Then in the control panel, in the language and region settings, set your default unicode programs to Japanese. This should allow you to run and play the game. You’ll also need a DVD rom emulator like Daemon Tools to be able to load the ISOs. You can download the game here. The game is completely in Japanese. There are no translations for the game at this point in time.

  1. Having played the game for a while before the anime, i can confirm it is indeed the same seiyuu, basing on my own “appreciation”. There isn’t any official evidence behind this, but as you might know, Seiyuu usually use alias while performing in any eroge, so it won’t affect their career.

as for playing the game, you must also put the clock in japanese as well. this little thing sounds harmless, but if you don’t, you will have the black screen of death, with the sound and the menus still working.

  2. wait what the black screen of death… I thought it was the blue screen!! your telling me theres two screens of death!!
man that sucks… see what you did now im not even going to attemt to play the game (>.

  3. to be more accurate, the game display nothing but a black screen if you don’t set your clock in japanese.
it doesn’t deal anything to your current windows session or whatsoever.

but the actual game screen is desperately void, and you can only see the cursor, menus, and hear the sounds. If you happen yo get this far, this little fix isn’t really a big deal.

I can confirm that the seiyuus listed for the game version are merely pseudonyms.

Use that link to look up the seiyuus in question. You need to know the seiyuu’s name in Kanji in order to use it properly.

Game works fine for me without messing with the regional settings or anything.. just mount->install->patch->play..

Even tho I dont understand japanese at all the game seems so much better than the anime. I hope there will be a translation eventually.

There’s a way to play the game in english with on-the-fly translation. A program extracts the process that is sending the text and another one translates it.

It is no big deal, the translation is as bad as babelfish, but when reading the english translation, you get the general idea what they are talking about, which helps a lot.

People that are interested should have a look at this Page -> http://blgames.proboards25.com/index.cgi?board=gametips&action=display&thread=1141106731

    Have fun!
