As it was Sekai's seduction which led Makoto down the road of no-return. Sekai either dies or... would be near death before Makoto shows up. Makoto's reaction would be obvious however I still think that there is significant uncertainty in determining whether he lives or dies. Consider how selfish he was before... I saw in news somewhere that Episode 12 contains teenager committing violence in attempt murder. What do you guys think?
