I hope you all enjoyed my extremely biased Spring 2008 anime preview. My ratings were based solely on my enjoyment of the first episode of the shows. Thus, obscenely bad shows like Kanokon scored higher than a show with great production values like Kurenai for me. I’ll probably continue watching most of the series I rated in green, and drop the orange ones except for Kurenai. Shows with good plots and a strong storyline can improve as the series develops, and have a more lasting value. Thus Kurenai could easily grow to an ‘excellent’ by the end of the series. And on the other hand, shows with weak plots can quickly lose value if it becomes too repetitious. But, anyway, can’t really judge too much from one episode.

The line-up this season seems very strong. There are so many good shows that I just don’t know what to watch. So many shows I didn’t include in the preview. What are you guys looking forward to?

Moving on, we’re proud to release our fansub for episode one of Special A. It’s a story about Hanazono Hikari, who can’t for the life of her, ever beat Takishima Kei in anything. Kei has long had a crush on Hikari, but she’s simply too thick to realise that. Incidentally, they’re in the “Special A” class, which is the cream of the crop class of the best seven students on campus. They often lounge in the greenhouse and drink tea all day long.

Also, I’d like to introduce our new typesetter for ItaKiss and Special A, ThaEagle. It’s a bit fancier now compared to our plainer past releases. Please tell us if you like it. Oh, don’t forget to download the episode and give your comments too.

  1. Thank you for subbing this show. This is one of my most anticipated shows of the new season. Now that you guys are subbing it I know it will get a quality release.

Also, thank you for the excellent job you did on H20 and the other two shows you did last season :).

Hey on wikipedia it says this series is licensed by VIZ Media in the US.

Menos: I’m pretty sure that’s the manga that’s licensed. Manga licensing doesn’t affect anime licensing, obviously, so we’ll be continuing subbing unless circumstances change.

Based from initial m33w description about Special A, it seems the story somehow resembles KareKano (His and Her Circumstances / Tales at North Hills High) since the female lead thinks the boy as her rival first, but the boy actually likes the girl.

Well, that show looks promising ^^

Was laughing when the girl started to sing and an explosion showed up ^^ (And I wondered why she wasn’t talking at all)

I was hoping for a little bit more serious drama anime this season, but it looks like you’re gonna be subbing romantic comedies for now. Anyway, good job subbing as always. Kurenai seems to be the one holding the drama title for now.

I’ll just set my hopes up for Code Geass & Macross Frontier to replace the gap Gundam 00 will leave while on hiatus. Man, Gundam went on a character killing frenzy the last few episodes. Vampire Knight seems promising & Shoku-dan did a very good job subbing it (liked the gothic fonts), but I’m a little bit weary of the “girl between 2 guys’ sandwich” plot since I just finished Hatenkou Yugi. I know it’s nowhere near Vampire Knight’s league, but I’m starting to get bored with vampires, supernatural & GB2GS plots since they’ve been done before & for some odd reason, Vampire Knight reminds me of Zombie Loan (girl sandwich & guy with gun, does Kaname Kuran own a sword?). Geass already has a Zero, isn’t that kinda name infringement?! I wonder if Shoku-dan will use h264?

Unfortunately the show is not particularly good – but I will give it another chance. Thanks!

…but this is shoujo -not that I have anything against those thought, but this is unlike last m33w works on, and I kinda looking forward for more shounen ~true tears, more comedy-drama harem… (or seinen ~shigofumi )… cause most shoujo anime/mangas got predictable ending, not to mention cliche elements. Yep, just my rants…

I definitely love this show! Another great pick. m.3.3.w is starting to become my fave subbers together with dattebayo lol Lovely job on the subs. ^.^

  30. You do realise BakaWolf-m.3.3.w can only choose from the series that are actually airing?

So there won’t always be a series to be subbed that meet a particular genre requirement etc.

Special A has potential, we just have to see where it goes. It is a rule of thumb never to judge an anime merely on its first episode.

Enjoy the spring season of animes~ =)

Definitely looking forward to more from this series subbed by m33w, it was really quick and of quality considering how much typesetting was needed to be done because of Megumi, cool!

I love the dogs that come barking as much as m33w! ^_-

meth: We have been doing more drama-type animes, but most of the shows we do are romance type shows. Nothing else this season appealed to us so we chose these two.

Well Specail A and Vampire knight are cool they have some promise, need to watch more but the long arms and legs kinda freak me out, Kurenai was kinda boring. I need a healthy dose of Shonen and Shojo anime this year.
