Here is Itazura na Kiss 08.

There is one translation note that we want to mention with this. When the professor is giving his little speech to the Class-F students, he uses the word amai, which means sweet, but also means naive. After he says that they’re being naive, he follows it with a joke by saying that it’s as “amai” as honey flavored daifuku, which is a Japanese sweet. So yeah, we decided that including a TL note would be pointless because the meaning of the joke is lost in translation (naive =/= sweet in English), and if you understood the joke, you don’t really need English subtitles anyway.

Edit: xess here now. Let me expand this post a bit.

University life finally starts for Kotoko and Irie. Being the bimbo that she is, she still can’t get past the events of graduation day. Though most people consider them a couple, things sure don’t look that way between the two. With a love rival appearing, what will Kotoko do?

Definitely another hilarious episode with lots of golden moments.

Thanks, but I have a question, a few moths back you guys mentioned you were still working on Koharu Biyori, I was just wondering if you had made any progress on it yet, or if you’re even still working on it at all?

Consider Koharu Biyori dropped as no one is working on it.

Might we be able to get unfinished scripts for Koharu Biyori 2&3 so we can finish and remux the raws ourselves?

Well to be honest, while I respect the effort that Chihiro put fourth, they are a god awful speed subbing group. I KNOW M.3.3W is much better than them, I also trust their translation more, so I’d rather have their script muxed into my raws, of course that is only if they are dropping the project, which from what tun said, sounds like they did.

You idiots, the professor actually said “that’s sweet! Sweet I say! Honeyed daifuku sweet!”

    (/transliteration fag)

No seriously, thank you all for all your hard work :^)

We know. Unfortunately naive != sweet in English unlike Japanese. The joke gets lost in translation. We purposely decided to drop it in order to avoid any confusion.

If you already knew what it meant in Japanese, then that’s great. If you didn’t, you still wouldn’t be able to get the joke even with the English subs. That’s why literal translations are best avoided, since they’d only be understood fully if you understood Japanese in the first place.
