To Love-Ru (Ayako): Yes, this project is still alive. SpiegelEiXXL has been busy lately with school, (but apparently not too busy to do other shows that Ayako is doing -_-) so he hasn’t had time to work on it. At first I was just editing this show, but Ayako’s reliably unreliable translators disappeared and recently this show has become the burden of myself, xshadowfire, and xess. xshadowfire has also recently abandoned ship, so now it is basically just me and xess keeping that show afloat.

Meanwhile, Chihiro keeps putting out their speed subs and we haven’t even released episode 9 when episode 13 is gonna air in a few days. The timing is very lazily done and this show is clearly not high on SpiegelEiXXL’s priority list, as I’ve been grilling him to work on the widescreen versions for the past two months (those will be released under the Ayako-BWS tag. This show should have been a joint in the first place. -_-) but to no avail. Any normal person would have ragequit a long time ago, but I hate to leave things undone in the middle, so I’m torturing myself with this garbage. To quote myself,

[22:22:25] (tun) NOBODY KNOWS THE TO LOVE-RU I’VE SEEN
[22:22:30] (tun) NOBODY KNOWS MY SORROW

Seto no Hanayome (BakaWolf-m.3.3.w): This project is also still alive. If To Love-Ru didn’t become such a burden, I would have more time to work on this. But between my full-time summer job, both Itazura and Special A, and To Fail-Ru, I’ve had no time to devote to this. The timing and TS for this god forsaken show are also ridiculous and I wouldn’t wish it on anybody. I feel bad because when I first announced that we were doing it, I made it seem like we would get it done in a timely fashion. So much for that.

Minami-ke Okawari (Ayako-sae): Oh guess what, another missing translator. taqmir graciously volunteered to translate the last 2 untranslated episodes, but he’s not exactly the most reliable or quickest of translators. I might end up translating this one as well. We’ll see.

Allison and Lilia: I like this show, but the pacing of the story is excruciatingly slow. They waste so much time on boring crap while we have to sit through Wil being a completely blind idiot who can’t notice Allison’s feelings. I don’t know about you guys, but I want to see the making of Lilia (if you catch my drift). All of this other political drama and Ker and Fiona’s relationship bores me to death. It reminds me of another anime, Saiunkoku Monogatari, which wasted far too much time (78 episodes) on minor characters and uninteresting plot lines instead of the main characters and their relationships. Like I tell people, character driven animes are far and above their plot driven counterparts.

Kurenai: Horrendous ending. Simply horrendous. Kurenai was easily one of the better shows this season, but that ending really did nothing for me. Perhaps 12 episodes wasn’t enough to flesh out those characters. The amount of idealistic cheese at the end of the episode simply drowned out my tender affections for that show. It had such a great stable of characters but they were all euthanized before they even got on the track. It’s amazing that a show like this only has 12 episodes, but a show like To Love-Ru requires 24-26 episodes of pure, worthless, fanservice garbage.

Possible future projects: Well I was gonna pick one up, but with all of my work, I’ve decided not to do so. If you see a summer project by us, I won’t be involved in it.

tl;dr – me crying a river and needing to build a bridge to get over it

So I was reading the horoscopes on a local newspaper’s website and look what it had for Aquarius. Maybe these things aren’t so bogus after all.

Your Daily Horoscope – Aquarius Tuesday, June 24th 2008 Be careful of burning the candle at both ends this week, Aquarius. You may be expected to pick up more than your share of work, but your well-being also needs to be taken into consideration. A little psychic tender loving care can go a long way in helping to rejuvenate the mind and body. Not taking time to look after yourself can result in silly mishaps. You come first. I am dumbfounded. The amount of projects you guys have could easily swamp a full team, and with half of one (or is that, less than half?) you’re still putting out regular releases…

    *speechless*

I love you guys. Thank you for trying so hard for us.

The usual story I guess. Starting a bunch of things, going wrong somewhere in the middle and end up with a huge backlog of things to be done. Happens all the time to me too. I fully understand Tun’s decision to take it easy this summer and leave the new projects to the rest of the team. Keep at it Tun!

I really wish you all the best…. for what you all did… or it’s just you

    anyway

I’m here for the kurenai part… well the ending is somewhat like that… but maybe you ought to see the manga.. which when I read it, it’s kinda jump after the anime story..

nonetheless.. this is good anime.. good drawing, good plot (well for me)

well that’s all… I just wanted to inform about the manga

I love you guys! Keep the great subbing up.

God, To Love Ru’s one of the best animes this season I would say, with tons of fanservice and the introduction of hotter girls every episode..
Sometimes watching an anime with no storyline really tells you how good the other ones were!

Kurenai was alright. That ending didn’t seem like it would encourage another one, although I would say that there is a chance, due to the large amount of people watching it. I loved the artwork though. Brilliant.

On a side note, Kanokon was also another one of those loads-of-fanservice animes. I reckon the ending to that was nice, a ‘harem’ ending. I’m sure that there will be a second season with ‘MORE’ storyline. (Really only one episode contained anything to do with the story..)

I agree with Tal. If it’s taxing you guys so much, then please, please, spare yourselves the pain. There’s so much to do, so much else to get through. Please don’t feel like you have to continue. We want you guys to stay with us and love what you do, not get pounded into the ground with projects that have turned into migraines. We love you guys too much for that.

Wat? To Love Ru is one of the best animes ever… What’s wrong with no story? We watch Geass for world domination… Why can’t we watch loveru for fanservice?

    kanokon>toloveru a thousand times…

and i like alsionlilia… even if it’s slow paced, it’s interesting (and the character development doesn’t take too much space, which makes it less sappy imo).

never really got into kurenai… firs episode lost me a bit…

and macross frontier ROCKS!!!!!! (just had to say it).

vampire knight is also awesome 😉

neway, itakiss is also nice, keep up the good work m33w

The Kurenai ending seemed kind of halfassed, but I have no suggestions on how they could have made it better so, no complaints 🙂 ^.^

Anyhow, To Love-ru for me owns Kanokon since Kanokon only has one way oversized boobygirl and one undersized stick they call a girl, while To Love-ru has a clumsy, idiotic, moronic nude girl with nice proportions and a guy who is facing danger everywhere he looks because of her ^.^ Hope Ayako can keep subbing it, since the chihiro version really has no involvement whatsoever to the word “Quality”, and as for the rest, Thanks for the info ^.^

First of all thank you for your hard work, and I hope you don’t work yourselves to death. 🙂

That said, on to the kurenai vs to-robu-ru (or whatever it’s ‘supposed’ to be spelled like). It’s all about the money, fanservice gathers huge masses of pre-pubescent, pubescent and teenage boys, it also caters to nerds who can’t get girls (like me, 23 years of involuntary celibacy). This is bound to bring in alot of cash for sure, kurenai on the other hand, is much more of a gamble, and then it’s ‘safer’ to write a shorter story wich can be continued if it sells. So what we need to do to eliminate this problem is to remove the testicles of all japanese men over the age of 12. Or just convince the studios that plot is greater than money. 😛

*send lots of psychic tender loving care*

Btw, what is that anyway? Like cosmic rays of love that cook food for you and helps you translate stuff or what? 😛

As bad as Kurenai got at the end (and it didn’t get /that/ bad, tbqfh), we did get to see twenty glorious seconds of Shinkurou kicking ass with the horn. That, right there, that made watching the show worthwhile for me :p

Wow, never realized how much was on your plate. Remember, in the art of fansubbing, always emphasize the “fan” part.

I too was somewhat disappointed with the ending for Kure-nai, but I didn’t think that it was horrendous (@ least it wasn’t as incredibly boring & suck ass as bad as SA). It’s not a “happily ever after” ending, but life rarely even is so I’m fine with that. My only problem with it was it was just too short so there wasn’t more detail to the characters. It’s very rare to get a truly fulfilling ending in ANY anime series. Evangelion IMO is my best personal pick, but even I have to admit that it had a “WTF” ending. The only series that I recall watching that had a satisfying ending was Samurai 7.

Vampire Knight was the only series that surprised me this season that had plenty of fansub takers, but none delivered in time for HD. It would probably be already completely released on DVD before they could catch up.

    To tun:
You can pick your nose, but please… please don’t pick another series! I’m begging you. SA was terrible enough. lol

Oh my, you guys really pick up much job and not leaving anything undone, a very honorable aspect to be proud of but still it’s a pain.

and just a cult fact ^^ I’m an aquarius and that horoscope for the 24th fits me perfectly ^^

That Tuesday I was going to work as usual and I was going to work 4 hours, but then my colleague started to feel sick and went home, and then my other colleague also started to feel sick and went home, that leaves me and my best friend left. I had to work full time that day and man, I’ve never been so glad to come home before ^^

so, what do you have on your shoulders atm? To love ru, Special A, Itazura and a full time summer job?! I can’t understand how you can do it and still being able to be cheerful. If it was me I’d probably had ditched all those projects, become REALLY pissed and focused all my time on my job.

but that’s just me, I just noticed that fansub crew is made of a much better quality material as a human ^^

@Ignite: I genuinely enjoy fansubbing, which is why I have the patience and drive to do it along with my summer job. Sometimes it does get a bit too much and more of a chore instead of a hobby, but I try to put it back into perspective when I get overwhelmed with it. Work has also been a little stressful lately, so I’ve been avoiding fansub related stuff aside from Itazura and Special A, and doing other stress relieving stuff like killing other m.3.3.w members in Counter Strike: Source. 😉

Saoen, Fighter747, Ravic, and Revenant don’t got shit on me. 😛

what about the OVAs? i know these were joints with other groups, but are there any plans to finish either:

    Koharubiyori (parts 2 & 3)
    or
Kimi ga Nozomu Eien OVA ~Next Season~ (final ep)

just wanted to know if i should wait or try another group or not, thanks! you guys are doing great work, keep it up!

I just had one of my brightest ideas ever, why not just drop to-robu-ru and pick up Telepathy Shoujo Ran instead. 😛 Noone else seems to be doing so, even tho it pwns. Oh, well, I might just be spoiled by DB, you guys and some of Eclipse’s faster releases, but a week after it finaly started airing is just too long of a wait, and I start fearing that nobody will do it. Perfect opportunity to practice patience however. 😛
