As some of you may have noticed, Itakiss appears to not have aired this week. It normally airs at midnight every Wednesday on CBC. Whatever you see on other sites saying that it’s Friday midnight is incorrect. That’s the TBS one and that is the 2nd airing of the syndication. But whatever it is, it appears that both those channels did not air, thus there won’t be any Itakiss this week. The other three shows should be out as normal.

Update: TBS finally aired Itakiss 17. Work on Itakiss 17 will begin soon.

who r u fooling? everyone knows the 17 raw cameout like last week! and 18 came out 4 days ago! honestly if u want raw for 17 i can provide u with a super high quality one tht i recorded with my pvr! but since i dont know japanese i dont understand it! n was counting on u guyz…but im being let down one day after another!, oh N IM NOT TRYING TO BE RUDE OR NOTHING, honestly!

I imagine that most fans in Japan record their favorite programs and watch them at a saner hour of the day. (There’s always going to be a Nogizaka here or there, lol.) As for why anime airs so late in the first place, I’ve heard that it was pushed off to those bad hours traditionally because it was in low demand (<5% national viewership) as compared with other television programs (like some dramas Kimura Takuya which have achieved ratings as high as 40% viewership); but because there was still some demand rather than no demand at all, you could say the television studios were “being nice” to the otaku to provide anime on air at all. As we push farther and farther into the Digital Age, I think it’s just a matter of time before TV air times become a thing of the past and people will be able to pick what they want to watch when they want to watch it provided it’s available. It’s beginning to happen, we’re sort of in a middle-ground, a limbo of sorts. People are already using their TiVo and DVR equipment to record what they want to watch and are watching it later in the day. Everyone’s got a different opinion, but personally I think it’s not a question of if but when the television becomes obsolete and every person on the planet watches what we think of as “TV shows” on their computers and home entertainment systems.
