It’s almost 3AM, and this is what I’ve been wasting my time on for the past hour or two. Rated R for language. Don’t download if you are easily offended. I named this as an OVgAy because that’s what it should have been. It has no business with the rest of the series.

edit: I forgot one thing in the parody. 11:32-11:36 was where I forgot to put a True Tears reference. I was gonna put something making fun of Isurugi Noe but I forgot about it. Oh well.

edit2: Yes, we will release normal subs for episode 25, so don’t worry.

boy, you REALLY hated episode 25, didn’t you?

  6. lol i see fuck, that was crazy this is the first time i saw ur subs like this this funny. at first i was watching all peacefully, thinking hum lets see what they hated, and all of a sudden she says mana no baka, but u guys put fyck u mama, great after that it was just funny funny to watch and laugh.

  7. also did they try to degrade the art in this and make it like the Manga was and how she and he looked in the manga…

Lol the funny thing is that what if someone upload this on a stream site like crunchyroll or soemthing and people who watch it there dotn even know japanese one bit and rely on the subs 100% there are gonna be like wtf wtf lol… huh wtf lol… oh man im dieing here dreaming of what peoples reaction to this would be…

i do agree tho i think this episode should never have existed, and only kept the last as the final episode they showed us.

    Hmmmmmm
Do we get a normal version of this ep ?

  9. Mangalowres, let him sleep right now, and let him decide on that after he wakes up and has free time to think with a clear mind… be happy with this for now, or just wait for V2… although i think this episode is easily understandably if u had reasonable anime watching experience. well i have way to much so it was easy to understand for me.

Hilariously awesome! Any chance we’ll get normal subs for this ep? Although I can’t honestly say that it seems like a big loss if that’s not the case. ^^

Also, thank you for subbing this series. And Special A, now that I’m at it. 🙂 It’s been great to watch and I’ll be sure to check out your future projects!

Come on, episode 25 wasn’t all that bad, in fact I think it was even better than the “finale”. It was highly structured story where Kotoko overcomes arbitrary obstacles, with some supernatural help. The other episode was good, but I felt it was a bit on the anticlimatic side.

This episode was true garbage. The suba were hilarious though. I will never figure out why they decided to do this but they probably wanted to give Kotomi some air time.

Even though this shit sucks for a 26th eps, it doesn’t take away from how great the series was in general.

You are all too harsh on this episode. The flashback portion of the episode is directly from the Manga and yes, the ancestor tells them to bring a baby next time. I don’t believe that is deserves the scorn that you heaped on it.

Wayne, there is something wrong when you have the ending in episode 24. They should have had this episode (ep 25) right after the honeymoon, and then have the last scene in the last episode be them arriving at the grandpa’s place with Kotomi. But the way they did it really does seem like an OVA. Throwing in that justification about bringing Kotomi there was really pathetic storytelling.

    @tun 9:26am:

Well, if they did show the main plot of the “ghey OVA” back at episode 16 or something, I think it would have spoiled whatever impact that Kotoko’s pregnancy (and for that matter the delivery) would have had on the audience.

Come on, I seriously don’t know what’s wrong with the episode, Kotoko has to face Naoki’s assholery times six, and despite her general airheadedness she manages to come out on top with the blessings of the matrilocal ancestors. And the way Kotomi greeted that ghost at the end was fittingly sweet.

  37. tun
    6:47 pm on September 27th, 2008

I don’t think so. They were already married at that point. If you had that episode around 16, and you know that there’s at least 8 or 9 more episodes, you’d expect them to get along to the point where she’s preggo. It wouldn’t really spoil the impact of Kotoko’s pregnancy.

The episode is typical of Itazura episodes, but just the fact that they extended the series to include it is what pisses me off. I was so happy with the ending, but only to have it ruined by another 20 minutes of the same bullshit that I talked about during the OP.

Going back to the old teasing Irie-kun after he had developed into the loving and supporting husband?
Introducing 10+ new, ugly, and pointless characters in the “last” episode?
Shoving the fact that Kotoko is a dumbass down our throats with the same old “can’t solve a simple homework problem” nonsense?
Kotoko proving her doubters wrong with her fierce determination?

    Spare me.

The only good things about this episode were the scenes with Kotomi. That could have easily been incorporated into the end of episode 24 if they had this episode in the middle of the series. They could be going to their house instead of some random picnic in the park. That last scene with the Grandpa’s ghost would have fit in with all of the other pan scenes where they show you how all the other characters have ended up in their lives at that point.

I know that with the way the series was going, a pregnancy was pretty much written in stone, but the absence of a blatant prediction of it at least maintained the artifice of differing speculations. I do know I and several other people were kinda freaked out by the blue-filtered preview at the end of episode 23: will Kotoko lose her baby? Stay tooned. . .

And remember, even when those two got married, Naoki was still a gaping, hemmoroidal asshole and it took Keita’s interlopings for Naoki to get his shit straight. Although there were a lot of character growth throughout the series, Kotoko’s interactions with her daughter (Elekra Complex anyone?) falls completely in line with her personality displayed in this episode, so I don’t think it’s a regression.

I guess you have a point with the still-life scenes at the end of episode 24, but as a difference of opinion, I’d still prefer the OVgAy bookended by the Kotomi scenes instead of having it revisited 8 episodes later.

  40. tun
    8:21 pm on September 27th, 2008

I think there is a difference in expectation when it comes to Itazura. I don’t know about you, but I always expected Itazura to be a very straight forward show with no real surprises. The characters face normal hardships that are always overcome by hard work, determination, and loving support from family and friends. There is really nothing ground breaking about a series based on a manga that started almost two decades ago.

You can talk about maintaining some kind of pretense of speculative discussion, but let’s not make Itazura na Kiss out to be more than it really is. You seem to be aware of the events in the manga, so you probably already knew that she was going to have a perfectly healthy baby. I don’t know why you or other people you talked with thought that she might lose the baby. Every single obstacle was overcome throughout the entire series. Why would they suddenly drop that kind of atomic bomb on us? Worst case scenario, there would be a complication with the surgery, but Irie would somehow manage to save the day. The whole drama in that episode ended up being Matsumoto Yuuko for god’s sake.

Naoki turning back into his old asshole form is the only regression that annoyed me. Don’t you remember the scene in episode 24 between Naoki and Yuuki? Yuuki said that he used to admire Naoki when he was a calm and collected arrogant asshole. But he respects the new Naoki even more. That whole scene was cheapened with episode 25.

I think the distance of 8 episodes is better because it shows that Kotoko still remembered her promise with him to visit them again. It makes it seem more meaningful to Kotoko. The instant satisfaction of an end of the episode re-visit doesn’t feel as good. Like a fine wine, anime promises get better with age.

  41. In the manga, Kaoru Tada died after the scene where Naoki asked Kotoko if he had knocked her up. No more after that. Cliffhanger ending for the manga forever.

I agree with Naoki turning back into an arrogant asshole was just stupid. I knew this scene was in the manga, but I have no idea why the fuck they shoved it at the end. I was hoping they’d rewrite that episode, and the extra would include Kotomi. But… flashback? What the hell?

It was a pointless episode, and those who know me well [coughirccough] know I rant like a little bitch about this series. Yet this episode gave me nothing to rant about. It was just stupid.

    I liked your subs though, tun. I lol’d my ass off. “I’ll give you the dicking of a lifetime.” Oh my, if Naoki ever said that… XD;

Nah, I think the main difference is the episode placement. If it was made into the sixteenth episode (sans Kotomi of course) you probably wouldn’t have that much problem with it right? I guess I just treated it more of a standalone episode than the actual series finale.

In retrospect, I guess it was silly to think that an episode titled “Happy Love Carnival” would include such a destabilizing tragedy though.

lol hillarious (nice subs) the ep was ok but ive seen better adaptions (ive also seen way worse) so i cant say much anyways. seriously why do you not pay attention to the rating (ratings were created by americans so parents wouldnt sue the companies for there behavior). kmom: let the fansubbers have there fun there entitled to it everyonce in awhile and if your gonna complain watch it first to make sure its ok there really is no point in complaining…..

kmom, I’m sorry that you had to find out the hard way. On the Tokyotosho submission, I clearly stated that this episode was rated R for language. And it was also clearly labeled as an m.3.0.w release, which is the name we use for our troll subs. It also said OVgAy, so that should have been another indicator for you.

All I can say is to get the download link from our website.

The series is finally over. Thanks for all the hard work in subbing this series. Couldn’t have enjoyed the series without it. Okay, I agree with everyone that the flashback episode should have really taken place after the honeymoon and before the Keita Arc. Naoki was still acting like Mr. Jerkwad so them visiting his relatives would have fit. Overall the series was very good. I think this is the first time I ever saw an anime where the couple struggled for so long as Naoki and Kotoko. Also, by reading the manga and side story, I finally understood why he was so cold toward Kotoko. His mother dressing him as a girl when he was a kid played a major role in him becoming cold-hearted. The kids teased him at school when he was about five years old after seeing him in a pink swim suit. He was so devasted that after that point he decided to cut all social ties or any kind of bonding and viewed everyone other than himself as a complete moron. He also developed a hatred for girls from having to dress as one when little and being teased about it by the other kids in school. That’s why he was so cold toward Kotoko. But over the course of 20 episodes he finally accepted Kotoko’s love and companionship. She was the first person who broke his resolve to isolate himself from everyone outside of his family. I think if the ones who animated the series wanted to extend the series by one more episode they should have used it on Yuuki. In episode 24 they show a brief screen shot of Yuuki’s girl friend. In the manga, Yuuki’s girlfriend is just like Kotoko. She is from the bottom of Class F. I think it would have been funny watching Kotoko and mama Irie try and put Yuuki and his girlfriend together. Anyway, the series is over and it was fun watching it.
