Saoen here, we finally released Special A Episode 15, but the wait will be worth it I assure you. The File size is bigger this time around because the new karaoke is super fancy and colorful (if you have epilepsy, be warned!). This episode was pretty good, all I can say is after I got back up from my massive orgasm I was generally pleased, but became angry once I noticed the mess I had to clean up.

Oh and for some unknown reason, tun wanted to waste my time and told me to tell you about his “Awesome” breakfast:

“I had the greatest breakfast this morning
2 eggs, potatoes, sausage, toast, and a small coffee for $4
the value is a miracle of the universe”

tun here for some additional comments. As promised, we now have karaoke for episode 15. The h264 version of Special A will now be 170MB to accommodate the new karaokes. They eat up a lot of bitrate and that makes the rest of the episode look like crap. We left out the karaoke in the previous two episodes because we didn’t want to embarrass ourselves getting it wrong. However, unfortunately, the official lyrics themselves are even more embarrassing. No, “And we wish you. Go! Just forever” isn’t some funky typo we did.

FYI our typesetter, ThaEagle, will be busy this weekend. I can guarantee right now that Special A 16 will be delayed for a while because he has no time, and it’s also a typesetting nightmare with Megumi playing a big role in this one. The end of the episode is also very rage inducing, so be warned.

As for my breakfast, that’s gonna be my little secret. I don’t want people flocking over there and running them out of business. 😉

Here is Special A 14. I really enjoyed this one and you’ll see why when you watch. Again, there’s no karaoke this week, since the OP/ED singles come out in 3 days. Episode 15 will definitely have karaoke included.

Itazura 14 should be out either tomorrow or Monday hopefully.

And I guess there’s no point in keeping it a secret, but we have picked up Nogizaka Haruka no Himitsu. After seeing the garbage that Moetaku put out, we can’t just sit idly by.

This is the latest we’ve ever been on a release of our primary shows. 8 days or something? Well, could have been worse. Whatever it is, Special A has significantly improved in the last few episodes. Perhaps it’s because they’re suddenly following the manga much more closely now. Not so much the new ending song though.

And, just to reiterate, the karaoke for the OP and ED were intentionally left out. We didn’t accidentally forget them or anything. And no, we most likely will not make v2s when the official lyrics come out. It’s just karaoke after all.

In other news, our typesetter, ThaEagle, went to Iceland for vacation (1 week) so xess did the typesetting for this one. Please thank him for doing even more work than he usually does. ThaEagle picked a good time to go since Itazura 12 won’t be airing this week.

Speaking of vacations, I haven’t been on one in 3.5 years now… Any suggestions? I would like to get out of the country (America) for a while, most likely during my winter vacation in January. Don’t bother suggesting Japan; I don’t have the money to go on the kind of trip that I want to. That’ll have to wait for another vacation. 😮

Here is Special A 10. So-so episode for the most part. I think episode 11 looks pretty interesting though; that airs today.

Itazura na Kiss 11 should be out tomorrow or two days from now.

Also, please don’t talk about the whole CR issue that’s been going on for the past few days. That’s water under the bridge now, as far as I’m concerned. I have no problem with our episodes being on CR, but all that I ask is that they be respectful and not accept uploads that aren’t our official releases. My only other criticism of CR is that they simply accept the first uploaded fansub (usually a shitty speedsub) and never bother to replace it when a better one comes out. To me, this is a great disservice to the anime community that they serve. I appreciate the fact that they took down the pre-release episode 10. Please give them my thanks.

Some special failure from us. The previous version got encoded with the wrong script of all things. Following are the fixes:

• Time shift as it was timed to a different raw
• A few minor typos
• A sign disappearing a frame too early
• Missing credits

Hmm, doesn’t seem like anything major. If you’re satisfied with the first version, don’t bother with this one. If there are any other mistakes, then whatever. We’re not gonna re-encode again.

I’d like to touch on three items in this post.

Firstly, I’ve expanded the bored section to include some liner notes and miscellaneous trivia. To explain why we rarely ever include notes in our subs; that’s because we try to follow these two main principles as best as we can:

Rule #1 – The subtitles should be as unobtrusive as possible and not fight for the viewer’s attention. Good subs are those where the viewer doesn’t even notice their presence.
Big floating text plastered across the screen to describe minute details, moves the viewer’s attention away from the anime to the subs. We want you to watch the anime, not worry about Japanese foods and such. That’s what the ‘bored’ section is for.

Rule #2 – Try to give the viewer a similar experience to a native Japanese viewer, basically what the director intended.
Unfortunately, sometimes these two rules contradict each other and we can be rather inconsistent. We end up leaving several things untranslated, honorifics being one of them. I think most viewers know what the common honorifics mean, and some people like them there. Some groups would go as far as to even translate German special attacks and such in anime. I really feel that it’s unnecessary as the director never intended them to be understood in the first place, giving it an air of mystery.

Either way, let’s not get carried away with that. The bored section is there for some mindless reading. Feel free to contribute by posting on the comments or whatever and I’ll update the page every so often.

Secondly, I’d like to kindly ask people to stop asking about when Kimi ga Nozomu Eien Next Season volume 3 is coming. This is the kiminozo website. Go email the producers or call them or whatever. We really, really don’t know when it’s coming out. My guess would be around August.

And lastly, I’ve moved Koharu Biyori to the dropped section. It has been six months, and our translator for that show hasn’t produced a script. It is disappointing as our staff has been waiting patiently, but I won’t force him to do it if he doesn’t want to.

Oh, and enjoy Special A episode 08. We get to see Akira in a bikini in this episode. Woots!
