m.3.3.w Fansubs is a small, independent, ad-free fansubbing group dedicated to translating, subtitling, and preserving anime that we enjoy – particularly the lesser-known, overlooked, and occasionally downright obscure titles that might otherwise slip through the cracks.
We’re not here to compete with bigger groups, chase popularity, or promise a release every Tuesday. We do this because we enjoy it, because these shows deserve some attention, and because sometimes somebody has to be stubborn enough to finish what they started.
What We Do
Our work includes:
- Translation and translation checking – Making dialogue understandable while respecting the original meaning and tone.
- Timing and typesetting – Making subtitles readable while handling signs, on-screen text, and other visual elements.
- Editing and quality checking – Catching mistakes, improving readability, and making sure the finished release is something we’re comfortable putting our name on.
- Encoding and release preparation – Working with the best practical sources available, whether that’s DVD, Blu-ray, broadcast recordings, or something considerably older.
We don’t pretend every project will be perfect. We aim to do the best work we can with the people, materials, and time available.
Our History
m.3.3.w has been around in one form or another since the older days of anime fansubbing, when groups maintained their own websites, exchanged scripts, and sometimes spent an unreasonable amount of time arguing over a single line of dialogue.
Some projects were completed. Others stalled. People came and went, priorities changed, and life happened.
That’s part of the history, too.
We’re interested in keeping that history accessible while seeing what unfinished work might still be worth revisiting.
Release Standards
We believe in being reasonably transparent about our releases.
When practical, we’ll provide release notes, identify important corrections, and make subtitle scripts available for people who prefer to work with their own video sources.
If we make a mistake, we’ll try to correct it.
If a project is inactive, we’d rather acknowledge that than pretend an update is coming tomorrow.
And if something takes longer than expected?
Well, welcome to fansubbing.
Getting in Touch
We’re happy to hear from former members, translators, editors, timers, typesetters, and anyone who remembers our older projects.
Corrections and bug reports are welcome. If you’re reporting a subtitle issue, please include the episode, timestamp, and a short description of the problem.
You can find contact information through our Staff page.
We’re always happy to reconnect, but we’re not promising immediate replies or accepting every project suggestion.
Credits
m.3.3.w has always been more than one person’s work.
Our releases exist because people contributed translations, editing, timing, typesetting, karaoke, quality checking, encoding, and countless other little things that rarely receive much attention.
The current archive and website are maintained by MrCatFord and blueberry, with appreciation for everyone who helped build the group’s history.
Whether you worked on one episode or fifty, your contribution mattered.
We’re not chasing a release count. We’re keeping the work alive, one project at a time.
