Episode 12 marks the midway point for Special A and Itazura na Kiss. I hope you all have enjoyed the shows thus far. Since we’re the only English group doing those two shows, I guess there’s not much in the way of choice. Our speed has slowed down quite a bit recently, but it’s kinda unavoidable with most of the staff being more busy during the summer.

The spring line-up of anime was an especially good one. We were blessed with plenty of great shows like Kurenai, Crystal Blaze, Souleater, Code Geass 2, Vampire Knight, Kanokon and much more. Which ones did you enjoy? Though I started the season watching many of the shows, I ended up only completing a small handful like Kanokon, Maid Guy, Druaga and Major.

Episode 03 of Kimi ga Nozumu Eien ~Next Season~ is almost ready. It’s just going through a check, then it’s gonna get encoded. I was having trouble looking for a checker since my first choice turned me down. I wonder why, since it’s only just a single episode. I think there’s supposed to be another episode. No idea when that’s coming though.

Compared to the spring season, the summer line-up looks a bit weak. You can see the listing here. Please don’t vandalise the site. That ain’t cool.

So, what are our plans for the summer season? We’ve got some surprises lined up, so be expecting it! Thanks for reading.

I started to watch a lot of the series too that were introduced with the spring season. Out of the series, Kurenai is the only I have finished so far. I haven’t watched the last Vampire Knight episode yet. As for the series I’m still watching, they would be the following: Code Geass 2, Macross Frontier, Amatsuki, , Allison to Lilia, Special A and Itazura na Kiss. I think that’s all of them.

There’s only one series that I know right off from this list and that would be the new Slayers series. I wonder if it will hold up to the previous three, even though the third one wasn’t all that great. I am not too sure if I like the art style they are using.

As always, thanks for your hard work. =)

On the same boat here, finished Kurenai and Kanokon, and watching the same series as Taliesin. Will watch Vampire Knight final tonight. Kamen no Maid guy was a good one, but currently there is no active subber 🙁

The next season doesn’t look that promising. I think I’ll pick up 2 or 3 series max. Not that it matters since there are still series continuing from the spring season 🙂

I currently have exams so I’m a little bit behind on series that already finished (Kure-nai, Kanokon, Druaga, Vampire Knight) and other shows I’m following are still airing or in the process of being subbed (Kaiba, Allison to Lillia, Nijuu-Mensou no Musume, Itazura, S.A. and some more).

Anyway, the new season looks average but I’ll surely watch Slayers Revolution, Telepathy Shoujo Ran, Hidamari Sketch x365 (exploding nutbludder guaranteed!), Blade of the Immortal and of course the new Lupin III.

If I have time I’ll also pick up Zero no Tsukaima 3 but considering the 2nd season was 90% fanservice shit and the 3rd season pics looks just like another filler season (big-titted elf someone?), I’ll probably won’t watch it.

@Taliesin: About Slayers Revolution: I think they will use the old art style with a modern touch if you know what I mean. Just look at the official homepage.

I’m not really that impressed by Special A and Itazura so far, but I’m very fond of the speed and consistency of your fansubbing. I will clearly finish the shows.

I’m actively following about 15-20 ongoing series, and the guys that impressed me the most so far are Vampire Knight (after the first couple of eps), Kurenai, Nijuu Mensou no Musume and RD Sennou Chousashitsu. Soul Eater is also climbing fast in quality as it progresses.

I have a bit of problems seeing the greatness of Kanokon and To Love Ru, but then I’m not an ecchi fanatic 😉

There are a few like Code Geass which I will not watch until completion, so I may yet discover some pearls.

FSM – agree to your comment about Zero, but I will probably watch it anyway… Baka me.

I am currently watching about 8-9 series. I started to watch To Love Ru, but I just got sick of the constant ecchi without even the faintest hint of character developement. That’s why I enjoyed Kanokon more because it has a sliver at least and was much more funny.

Soul Eater is number one for me. I can’t get enough of that show or the manga.

I got bored of Crystal Blaze (not sure why), Amatsuki bored me too (especially when the subs were so irregular).

I’m enjoying Vampire Knight, but my biggest problem is that I always hate characters who cause their own problems and dilemmas, so I’m kind of pissed off right now about that show.

Library Wars (Toshokan Sensou) is pretty good. The animation is good at some points and not at others, but it’s an interesting story that keeps me entertained.

Wagaya no Oinari-Sama is somewhat interesting, but I am losing a little interest because the story really has progressed much since the first episode

Kyouran Kazoku Nikki is pretty good too. Very funny and the story is just so strange that I can help but love it.

Nijuu Menzou no Musume is pretty cool too, I like the story because it keeps moving and growing. But, has anyone else noticed that “oji-san/Boss” looks a lot like the guy from Big-O?

Kamen no Maid Guy is just damn funny…enough said.

Chi’s Sweet Home is just adorable and I can’t get enough of it, even if the episodes are only 2.5 minutes long.

Kanokon was good (like i said earlier)

Kurenai was interesting and pretty well done until that terrible ending which left way too many loose ends and was kind of a deux ex machina (Machine of God, is the loose translation…look it up if you don’t know the meaning)…which i’ve never been a fan of.

Lets not forget Special A and Itazura na Kiss…I like both, but both at times really get on my nerves.

In the end, if Doctor Who could be made into an Anime it would be the greatest anime of all time (though it has nothing to do with anime since it is British ^^)

Major is from the winter season, not spring. And summer 2008 does look a little weak but it’s always like that, spring and fall are always when the big seasons.

hmm… the only two I am waiting for right now are Nogizaka haruka no himitsu and Sekirei. The only ones I see as worthy of watching this summer, but that might be only because those are the only two I have heard of this summer ^.^

This anime of this spring were pretty amazing..

    Macross Frontier
I was pleasantly surprised by this one and by GG picking it up later on. (Love GG, fast/HD/softsubbed/quality.. just like some other group called m33w ;))

    Code Geass R2
Been waiting for this one forever, and unlike most other things you wait ages for.. this one did NOT disappoint. Think the best thing is how like episode 11 is the good old plotting Lelouche, yet episode 12 is quite wacky with Lelouche trying to handle his ‘normal’ school life; In other anime this normally annoys the hell out of me, in Code Geass I just love it. (GG is doing a great job on subbing this one as well)

    Kamen no maid guy
This show is hilarious, maid-guy with his maid-guy-skills never stop making me laugh and the outro has some nice guitarplay (the style of the vid in the outro is A LOT like in Kaibutsu Oujo though.. not that I mind).
Seems like it will take a while before the next episode is subbed which is a shame 🙁

    Kanokon/ToLoveRu
Both shows are pretty amusing to watch, but not something I’d store to rewatch later (like Code Geass R2). Kanokon suprises me in how much ‘ecchi’ they show.. people might start asking questions if they walk into my room while I’m watching it 😉

    Itazura na kiss
Somehow it reminds me a bit of Ah! My Goddess, a bit ‘girly’ but very fun to watch. (Hope I don’t end up rewatching it as often as Ah! My Goddess.. got other things to do!)

    Special A
Reminds me a bit H20 footsteps in the sand, don’t know why though… fun to watch but doubt I’ll rewatch it.

    Wagaya no oinari-sama
Another foxgirl, but not quite as ecchi as Kanokon ;). I like this show, though the ‘little brother’ annoys me as he’s too gullible

As for the next season… I’m looking forward to Ikkitousen great guardians, Zero no Tsukaima: Princess no Rondo (ecchi banzai!?) and the rest doesn’t look familiar so I guess I’ll have to check it out. ( Artwork of Hidamari Sketch x365 looks a lot like that of “He is my master” though )

Think I’ll pass on Neo-Angelique as episode 1 and 2 of the previous show bored me.

Oh and before I forget.. typed enough now..
Thank you for the awesome subbing, HD (wherever possible) + Softsubs + Fast + Quality work is how I like it, and how you guys (and girls?) provide it.

(and in case anyone wants sexy styled subs under linux, smplayer is your friend)

To be consistent, you guys should do ef a tale of melodies. It’s been a while where there was a series that actually had drama. The closest thing that came up this season that I saw was Kure-nai.

Macross Frontier seems to be filling the gap for me right now brought by the absence of Gundam 00. Geass R2 is great as well.

Spring is definitely beautiful. Err, I mean with the amazing series and all. I don’t really watch a lot of series but these are my favorites (I dropped quite a number of series)

    Soul Eater
I love it since the first episode. The only show I care to watch the RAW because just I can’t resist the awesomeness of this series. I have bad record in tracking series with more than 39 episodes, but I have strong feelings I’m going to haunt and stalk Soul Eater ’til episode 51.

    Itazura na Kiss
I am a big shoujo & Nana Mizuki fan. I love both the OP and ED for Itakiss – what I called “spring songs”. Though I’m slightly annoyed with Kin-chan and Jinko’s voice, this is a show I highly recommend to my girl friends. 🙂

    Special A
I’m in it for the comedy. Will definitely continue watching. Currently reading the manga.

    xxxHOLic-Kei
One of my favorite supernatural series, even though I haven’t manage to finish reading the manga.

    Vampire Knight
I started this series with high hopes and I am so glad it’s over. Who cares if it runs 13 episodes only? Don’t get me wrong. I love the manga, I love the seiyuu (Yuo Horie and Mamoru Miyano are my favorites) but Studio Deen’s animation could’ve been better.

For Summer, I am currently watching Chocolate Underground. Maybe I’ll check out Slayers and World Destruction if time permits.

I can’t wait for the surprises! And thank you for all your hard work guys!

@Maya – yes, I know dear. Still, I hope Studio Deen would improve the quality of the animation of this series. It’s kinda sad to see your favorite manga turns out not as what you expected.. (or maybe my expectation is a bit high? lol)

    Whatever. I voted this series 8.2/10 :p

    @hagumi

usually, the manga is way better than the anime except in some stray cases 😀
for example, hana yori dango. many ppl liked the anime. i thought it was lousy compared to the manga.
